Hand Unit

The Hand Unit at San Rossore Sport Village in Pisa is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and elbow.

The service combines surgical, orthopedic, and rehabilitation expertise, offering coordinated care from diagnosis through functional recovery.

Who is it for?

The Hand Unit treats traumatic, post-surgical, degenerative, and functional problems involving the hand, wrist, and elbow.

It supports people recovering from fractures or tendon injuries, as well as those with carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, joint stiffness, persistent pain, or difficulty with fine hand movements.

The care plan

Each care plan is defined according to the diagnosis, clinical stage, and the patient's functional goals. Treatment may include conservative therapies, surgical assessment, specialized physiotherapy, manual therapy, exercises to restore mobility and strength, and rehabilitation of grip and fine motor skills.

Hand rehabilitation

Hand rehabilitation requires precise, progressive work focused on recovering mobility, strength, sensitivity, coordination, and function in daily and work activities.

The specialized physiotherapist supports the patient at every stage, monitoring recovery progress and adapting the therapeutic program.

Custom braces

One of the Hand Unit's specializations is the creation of custom braces in thermoplastic material, molded directly on the patient.

These devices are light, hygienic, and functional, useful for protecting, stabilizing, or guiding recovery of the hand, wrist, and elbow. They are made by the physiotherapist through direct molding on the patient.
